Can’t Sleep, Can’t Size, Can Trade

I wrote this last night before falling asleep around 4pm. I couldn’t sleep more than five hours. I don’t know what’s going on. This is getting to be taxing for me. My best bet is to work for a couple hours and try to nap during premarket. I don’t know what to do. Anyway, for those of you following along at home here’s last week: And Monday: The last few trading days have exceeded my…

Flawed Forerunners

“If a man didn’t make mistakes, he’d own the world in a month.” -Jesse Livermore Reminiscences of a Stock Operator is an absolute pleasure to read. Jesse is one of the sharpest punters to ever live. Running up over a billion and running it back to a negative number before killing himself, only to have his granddaughter become a pornstar. There’s a cautionary tale in there somewhere. He reminds me of Stu Ungar in terms of…

Breakout Week

Every week since first clicking in on January 21st has been a losing week for me outside of a modest $327 win the second week of March. I’ve been beaten down by my own hand over and over again. It took facing myself without a filter to admit my flaws and come to terms with my weaknesses. I put aside my pride and am currently beginning the process of reframing how I view volatility in…

LET THE TRADE WORK

From my Tradervue report I can see that my average hold time for scratch, winning, and losing trades for the first half of this week is 1, 7 and 4 minutes respectively. That means I am cutting my losers, letting my winners work and am avoiding adverse excursion when I enter improperly or have a trade quickly go against me. The part of my game I’ve recently improved most are my entries. I am nailing…

Relief

This iconic graph is a shot for shot remake of my trading graph: I am that little green nub right now. Two for two days positive this week while trading an obscene number of executions. I just feel so much relief. Also “man stares at single point on blank wall for 10 min” turned out to be a huge success. It’s also when I started booking wins. Coincidence? I think not. Anyway I am enjoying…

Upstuck

For anyone that has spent substantial time sitting around hearing players moan at a poker table, you’ve heard someone complain about being “upstuck.” A state of being “up” but having given back a large portion of your gains so you still feel as if you’re “stuck.” Well, after reading some of what Yumi @samuraipips358 has to say about mental game for traders on X, I’m trying to avoid thinking about being stuck. Trying to avoid…

Cruising

While on a long call with my brother at the beginning of this year, I remarked to him idly, “wouldn’t it be nice to be mentally healthy, in peak physical shape, a multi millionaire, and to live with a woman that loved me?” And he replied in kind along those lines with “wouldn’t it just?” Well that landed for me. I took it to heart and I’ve been working on that every day since then.…

Systems Clicking

There are a number of elements that I talk about throughout this blog. Among them are: They are largely grouped into hard and soft skill categories. I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on my struggles (and successes!) in the soft skill category. Today I’m going to talk about my hard skills. I’m really happy! Every day I am getting closer to the trader that I envision. When I was a grandmaster starcraft player, which…
